2011 West Virginia University Marching Band Armed Forces Salute Video

The concerts showcase the band's full complement of brass, woodwinds, percussion, flags and feature twirlers. We will perform musical highlights from the 2011 football season, including favorite pregame and halftime music.

No celebration of our freedom can be complete without a tribute to the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much to preserve and protect our country. The WVU Band presents our "Armed Forces Salute," which features a medley of the songs from all branches of our great military.

This selection will close with a stirring rendition of "America, The Beautiful."

No one can argue the great service that the men and women of the armed services have provided to our nation over the centuries. By serving in two World Wars, the Korean War, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan, Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, and in the war on Terror, as well as continually providing support and aid to those in need when all types of disasters strike, our American service men and women have made us all swell with pride.

Therefore, we pay honor to all the brave men and women who helped to make, and continue to make this country, the greatest nation on earth!

The game was on Sunday, November 4, 2011, WVU vs Marshall University (WVU won 34-13) at Mountaineer Field in Morgantown, WV. It was a tribute, as the next day was Veterans Day. I was blessed to be present at this performance and I will forever be proud? to be a Mountaineer!!!!

This is amazing. My Wind Ensemble played this at out Veterans Day Concert back in November. And at the end of April, we're traveling to Washington D.C to play it at the World War II Memorial and anywhere else that we can play! Its been an honor playing this piece for the pasy year and getting to? talk to so many veterans!

Wow believe it or not i almost started crying because of how amazing this? was!Im in the high school marching band and im so happy i am because its amazing things like this 'normal' people cant do.It p**ses me off how people think marching band is just walking.I bet if they try it for ONE day they will bust there lip!

I hate how So many ...
I hate how So many people brush off marching as easy. 2 words HELL NO. It takes so much work to make a show GOOD. You have to work EVERY DAY and usually,? after the high school marching band I am end, works for an hour in the half before school every morning, we still have to play. This is not easy at ALL. Not to mention memorization The sad part is, no matter how much we work, there are still so many people who lack the dedication to actually try, these people cannot march in line ever! :*(
